Yesterday, our class used yard sticks to measure the snow at Pond Cove!

One of our learning targets is to measure to the nearest 1/2 inch.

The class collected data from three locations on the playground.

Later we analyzed the data and found the mode, the value that occurs most often in a set of data.

The maximum measurement was 7 inches and the minimum was 2 inches.
Then the students discussed the possible reasons for this range...
-inaccurate measurements,
-amount of wind or sun impacting the snow,
-various amounts of snow that already existed on the ground
-height of ground underneath the snow

I wonder how much snow will fall today?
