Week of Oct. 12th

Dear families,

We're in the seventh week of the 2020-2021 school year! Our class is coming together well as a community of learners and explorers.  The students continue to learn more about themselves and each other.  Setting goals in writing, reading, mathematics, and personal growth.

Daily mindful practice includes listening, breathing, seeing, and moving.  Ask your child to tell you about one of the movements and activities.  I've been impressed to see students taking advantage of these strategies throughout the day.

Students are learning how to be powerful partners by listening, questioning, and sharing their thinking with each other.

In reading, students have begun to "Read Themselves Awake."   Students are beginning to pay attention to characters and how events in the story are connected.

Students are crafting narrative stories.  They are learning to craft leads and endings and revise their work.

In math, students are practicing basic operations for speed and accuracy.  They are also learning basic multiplication and division facts.
